Cody Shepherd Adult - Adoption, Rescue for sale in South Elgin, Illinois

$300

DOB: 5/28/2017

Meet Cody!
He is a sweet, outgoing, adventurous guy whose verve for life is contagious! He is a completely housebroken, 24 lb, 1-year old possible Shepherd/Hound Mix from Kentucky.
He will fit best in a lively home with children, and possibly a canine brother or sister.

While at his foster home, Cody has developed self-confidence and expanded upon his social refinements. He is very pleasant in the home. He needs to be supervised while outside. He enjoys the company of cats, dogs and children and eats politely near other animals. While somewhat leary of men, he has accepted his foster dad with time for development of trust. This spunky dude will be most content with a busy family who will include him in car rides with the window down, long walks, and short jogs. He will not do well with a family who is gone all day due to his high level of energy. He would not be content in a crate for that many hours. He actually only is crated for a few hours here and there in his foster home which he is ok with. He doesnt get crated at night and is very content on a doggy bed and doesnt get into anything. Cody thinks highly of a thrilling natural area with prairie grasses and branches and streams for him to investigate. This sweetheart walks great on a leash and knows his name, but needs work on sit, stay and come commands. He is not much of a napper, but enjoys sleeping through the night. He especially loves sleeping in front of an open window, catching a cool breeze.
He is a joy to be around and will make a great addition to a loving family!

A JOURNEY HOME DOES NOT DO OUT-OF-STATE ADOPTIONS ON UNALTERED PUPPIES.

Thank you for your interest in adopting!

A Journey Home is a 501c3, all foster/volunteer based rescue. Our rescues are living with families in their homes. We do not have a shelter.

If you are interested in adopting, email ajourneyhomedogrescue@gmail.com to request an application or visit our website to fill out an application. After your application has been received and given a preliminary approval, you will be contacted by an adoption coordinator who will conduct a phone interview. Final approval will be granted following a successful meet and greet with the entire family. Adopter must be at least 21 yrs old.

A Journey Home does not do out-of-state adoptions on unaltered puppies. Spay/neuter surgery is not done on puppies under 6 months of age. If adopting a puppy under the age of 6 months, we require that the adopter schedules the spay/neuter at our participating vet clinic when age appropriate.

Our standard adoption fee is $300, payable by cash or check. The fee includes spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative, a free vet visit at one of our participating clinics, and micro-chipping.

First time pet owners will be required to sign up for a puppy/training class at a place of their choice. There will be an additional $100 added to your adoption fee, which will be refunded to you upon proof the class was completed.

Please note that breed and size are our best guesses, while ages are estimated by our vets and are not guaranteed.
